Dr. Ted Esguerra

Wilderness Search and Rescue Philippines Founder, EMS Physician, Philippines

Dr. Ted Esguerra is a part of the Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Team in the recent Myanmar Earthquake; led the Philippine Inter-Agency Humanitarian Contingent in Turkey; and the emergency medical expert at the Energy Development Corporation. He also served as the expedition and wilderness EMS physician for the Philippine Mount Everest Expedition and the Voyage of the Balangay. Formerly, he was the Team Leader of the Philippine Coast Guard's elite medical unit, the Specialized Medical Assistance Response Team (SMART), and a consultant for emergency management with Israel AID Philippines.

He is the founder and senior instructor of Wilderness Search and Rescue Philippines; also a fellow and instructor in the Masteral Program for Crisis and Emergency Management at the Philippine Public Safety College. Additionally, he sits on the Advisory Council of the International Disaster Response Network.

He is an internationally recognized speaker and instructor of Global Search and Rescue Resources, International Search and Rescue (ISAR), an instructor of Emergency Preparedness, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Wilderness Medicine, Austere Environment Life Support, Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), and Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) at Nueva Caceres University.

He has authored the Readiness in Times of Emergencies & Disasters Handbook, Barangay Emergency Preparedness Manual, School Preparedness Manual; and one of the two writers of the ABHA Airport Disaster Plan.
