Ron Steinke
Tracking & SAR Instructor
Ron Steinke is a certified tracking instructor with the British Columbia Tracking Association, endorsed by the BC provincial government of Canada.
With over two decades of combined operational experience, he has served 12 years as a Canadian Ranger with a specialization in wilderness survival across the Rocky and Coastal Mountains of northern Canada, along with nine years in the Canadian infantry, including multiple deployments as a UN Peacekeeper, as a member of the Quick reaction force for UNPROFOR in the Balkans.
He holds certifications within the Search and Rescue field, including Swiftwater, Rope, and Ice Rescue Technicians, Avalanche Safety Training, Advanced Wilderness First Aid, and also trained as a Primary Care Paramedic. Ron’s instruction blends practical tracking skills with real-world SAR operations in complex environments, developed through years of collaboration with international military and wilderness rescue teams.
He is passionate about the craft of tracking and committed to supporting those training to save lives in some of the most demanding conditions.
